Construction materials, equipment, furniture and fixtures purchased with Industrial Revenue Bond proceeds are exempt from Kansas sales tax. Industrial Revenue Bonds are generally considered feasible for projects that will exceed $10,000,000 in cost.
Businesses that are HPIP certified through the Kansas Secretary of Commerce are eligible for a sales tax exemption on all tangible personal property or services purchased at the project facility. HPIP certified firms looking to expand their operations or move to a new location in Kansas can also use the exemption certificate for construction materials to construct a new building or remodel existing space.
