Prestigious award recognizes strategic innovation over past year
MarksNelson was honored with the BDO Alliance USA Excellence Award for Innovation at the annual BDO EVOLVE conference, held May 7, 2024, in Las Vegas.
Recognizing firms for outstanding business practices, the awards shine a light on exceptional accomplishments over the last year in the fields of Innovation, Client Experience, Growth Strategy and Workplace Culture. MarksNelson was honored with the Innovation award for success in evolving under the current business climate, innovating its services and growing its practice. The firm successfully demonstrated how innovation played a role in its overall strategy, described what it has done to be an innovator, and provided evidence of success — and how it has strengthened the firm.
In fact, 2023 was a year of exciting innovation, led by an in-house IT team and industry veteran CIO David Richards, who launched several firm-wide initiatives that use technology to create efficiencies, streamline operations, save time and improve the client experience.
One such program was the MarksNelson Innovation Lab, which gathers input from the entire firm on current pain points and challenges, then tests ideas and products to identify the best solutions for both firm and client needs. Current test subjects include the use of AI, analytics and automation tools across departments.
The team also leveraged leading-edge technology to build virtual training tools and collaboration pods that helped its growing remote workforce feel as if they’re sitting in the same room or walking the same halls as their colleagues across the U.S. The firm also built a new state-of-the-art training room with advanced audio/visual capabilities – including multiple motion-sensing cameras and numerous drop-microphones – to enable remote attendees to engage more effectively.
